This blog used to be about Health Wealth and Happiness, but this was such a wide scope I have decided to focus more on my passion which is Internet Web Site Marketing.
I purchased my first 3 web sites in November 2006, I bought one on ebay and the guy I bought it off recommended I add another two since the first one was more for promotion rather than making money. Well it was true the first one a directory site didn’t make any money, but to be honest there were so many spam style submissions to the directory it didn’t really do what it was intended for.
Clearly it looked good to a simple novice as I was back then with all those links and flashy graphics, but it only helped marginally with my two new sites which he set up for me. Again as I novice I didn’t realise the importance of domain age, nor that I could get my affiliate account and sites set up for free if I just signed up, well I do now.
I paid him £150 for the first site and £50 per site for the next 2 along with 2 banners 460 x 68. Then it was time to make some money wasn’t it, so I waited and thought well how do I get people to pay for the service I’m offering. I noticed a change to google some time around this time too and signed up for iGoogle. As a new webmaster I thought I’d better get to know other webmasters after all building relationships is only going to make things easier and make me more money isn’t it.
I joined a few forums, the one for the affiliate program of course and another important one called digital point (paul8368 if you want to look me up), I say important because it made me realise I had to do something to get people to my sites not just sit there and wait for it. This was only about 4 to 6 weeks after getting the sites set up and I’d had no sales of course.
I knew about myspace as I was already a member so I thought maybe I could use it to get some links back to my site, I did and it worked to some extent people started coming to the site, but it was quite obvious that it was a standard template. It was time to change and you will see now at my adult contact site that I have a complete custom page, which I have been optimising and marketing now for quite some time.
Now back to the history I continued to learn and broke even after 3 months which a complete lack of support from my upline, comments and suggestions but I had to work out how to get people to my site all for my self. He did subsequently sell me some leads and banner impressions on his banner exchange site which incidentally I bought from him subsequently. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of what a nulled script was so I have now upgraded it to a traffic exchange as well as the original banner exchange and a text exchange as well, this is however only a recent change so its not well established yet.
After a while I realised I needed some formal training so I have now completed several internet marketing courses, the 4th pillar marketing system is probably the top one I would recommend to anyone looking to improve their online performance although its not really for the absolute novice in my opinion.
